X'mas & Niece Karin's Birthday

It's Christmas time again! This is the first X'mas for Keira, hope she is excited about it! This year, we are also celebrating my niece Karin's 2-year-old birthday and it will be held at Karin's house :) My other niece Valerie will also be here...

Keira's 3rd month PD check up

23/12 went for 2 jabs + 1 oral. Dr Ngiam said only some babies will run a fever after the jab, and Keira just happen to be one of them.. jeezz... make me soooo worried. Can't give her medicine as she was reading at 37.2. Dr said give medicine at 37.5 .. ok.. just have to monitor.... but finally gave her a dose at evening... she slept thru the nite... this morning, measure her temperature and was at 36.9 .. not that bad.. at least fever is coming down... it's Xmas, and I really hope Keira can have her 1st Xmas happily spent with mummy and daddy....

Keira's growth record...14 weeks (3.5 months) check up:
Weight: 5.98kg
Length: 62cm
I was so worried sick that Keira had not poo-ed for 3 days, and ended up with one VERY BIG POO on her fourth day! Gosh! Dr Ngiam said it's perfectly normal.. and babies can go without poo for 3 - 5 days.... WOW! Since Keira's on 70% breastmilk currently, it is normal according to Dr Ngiam....

Gynae check up updates

Ar... Went for gynae check up after 2.5 months. Gynae said that my uterus has shrunk back to original size already.. However, I still have a minor bulge and she said that is muscles from the c-sect that will take a while to flatten.. oh gosh!!!!!! Weight wise.. couple more kgs to go.. and I can't wait to get back into my skinny jeans! .
Anyway.. ... ... in about a week's time, I will be back to work.. end of maternity.. wow.. that is really fast! I am going to miss Keira badly.. coz first day of work is an overseas assignment to Sydney... and I will be away from her for 4 days..... jeez... can I take it well?????? NO! I will miss her badly!!!!!

Keira's 2nd month story

Yeah ... Keira's hair is growing since her last "botak" shave...hmm..her front part is growing faster than the back.. strange coz before shaving, her front wasn't growing as fast as the back..haha.....hope she'll have a nice full set of hair before chinese new year..so that she can look cute and pretty when she meets daddy and mummy's frenz and relatives for the 1st time....

Ar Keira is also getting heavier ...hehe wonder what is her weight now..haha...how heavy she is growing everyday..haha
Hmm..lately she has alot of wind in her stomach.. and that makes me worry leh..how leh.. her poo poo also very watery..hmm...and I am also forcing her to drink gripe water (forcing because other than milk, she doesn't want anything clear") and apply ru yi oil.. hope she sleeps better now...

Keira's 1st hair shave @ 1-month old

Gosh..OMG...I shan't be sacastic... but I just can't help laughing at Keira after her hair shave! She looks simply "botak"! Traditionally, the old folks believe that shaving baby's hair at 1st and/or 4th month will help in hair growth - thicker and faster... Well, this is probably the only "myths" that I follow and possible believe, not because I am superstitutious but I think from a logical point of view, it makes sense... coz hair will grow faster due to the stimulation of the shave! Anyway...check this out... izn't that funny?

Ok... I am really bad.. I asked my mum to hold Keira's head still and I took a picture of her head from top-down... so it gives a more defined perspective of how this round thing really looks like. Oh.. btw, this shave/cut costs SGD8/- and my mum brought me to this particular hair salon in Chu Chu Kang where my niece used to shave her's too... apparently this stylist has the experience with bb shave.. so I feel more at ease with that...

Keira says: My 1-month old PD check up and fotos

Oh.. my god! It hurts so much.. had my 2nd Hep B dose yesterday at PD...

My weight at one month old = 4.2kg, just the right weight gain...I am expected to gain one kg every month in 1st 2 mths.. and glad mummy managed my weight gain well haha... otherwise I will be overfed by daddy.. . My length = 54cm.. I grew only 3cm?? how can that be.. I actually look alot longer than when I was born.. the nurse at clinic must have made an error.. or she did not stretch my legs fully la.... haha

And... here's one ugly shot of me in my "ah-mah" shorts... and put on by my grandma.. Hear me: mama was so shocked when she came home to find me sleeping in this big ah mah shorts... haha and mama woke me up from his "shock"....! I heard her asking grandma why such big shorts and making me look so ugly and "ah-mah".. :-p

Well... frankly, I love it! coz at least I do not need to show my nappy anymore!

So.. let me show you.... this is grandma carrying me...can't see her face clearly? haha.... coz I still want my face to be seen more... so either or.. ha.. ofcoz mine! anyway.. not my problem, really... it's mama's fault coz she took this shot!

Keira says: My 1st Month Celebration

yeah... my 1st month.. and that also means end of mummy's confinement..haha . I just love the heart-shape romper that mummy bought for me from Osh Gosh Baby in Seattle.. haha.. and I was still in mummy's tummy then at 4th month... I have to wear all these clothes before I outgrow them..

2 weeks after...Little hands, little legs, everything about her is little!

Keira's cord finally dropped! y-e-a-h...!!!

Oh.. finally.. her cord has dropped today (28 Sept 2006), after 15days! We were so worried why it took so long as PD said it will drop 7-10 days...

1 week after...

It's been a week since Keira came into our lives. She is such a cutie we just couldn't get enough of her! Though she's been sleeping alot.. and also due to her mild jaundice... she still enjoy watching her. But her head is still a little out of shape, and hope she'll grow her head nicely over the next few mths :p

OMG.. I have to post this pic of Keira and papa... just look at their head dimensions! hmm... papa sure loves Keira...

A view of Gleneagle Hospital - Super VIP ward that I stayed in. Super good I must say... fantastic service like those you find from hotel...food and service first class! Anyway.. I booked for Single-bed ward, but got upgraded to super vip..haha .. and you can spot little keira Zzzzz.... haha...

Arrival of Miss "bb" Keira on 13 September 2006

I am back, with my story....
My baby gal was delivered 13 September 2006 @ 4:53pm through emergency c-section.

Here's my labor story:
12:15am - Admitted to GlenE Delivery Ward and inserted pill to induce cervix to soften coz cervix still 3cm thickness..oh my goodness what a "strong" cervix! (Actually I have been having contractions for 3 days already..tightening every 10 mins...)
3 plus am - Cannot tahan contractions, already peaking high. Asked for thigh jap.
5am - Useless thigh jap.. still feeling pain.. ask for another jap but nurse said thigh jap can only use once..ask whether want epidural or not. Said no. So use gas .. another useless thing!
5:40am - Gynae came in, check..bloody me not yet dilated and cervix still not effaced much. Cervix muscles still tight/strong. Gynae said, let's wait and try ..coz she hoped i can do natural birth and me too. I told her contraction cannot tahan, she said.. ya.. u r actually in real labor and ready to deliver but cervix just not cooperative. She said better to have epidural since I am having strong contractions. She did not want to put me on drip to induce coz it will only coz more contractions which will distress bb and me. So said to wait for few hours and see dilation progress.
10am- Gynae came to check again..oh my god, only 1cm dilated. Not much effaced and cervix muscles still feeling strong... this time, she put me on drip to induce liao.. and I asked for epidural. Epidural administered!
Almost 4pm - Gynae came in, oh my god! only 1.5cm dilated!!! She looked worried. This is too slow and muscles still strong!!!!!! arrhhgggg... Gynae suggested c-section while bb heartbeat is still looking well, even wait for another 6-9 hrs, it is not going to help much at the rate my cervix is.
4pm - Prepare for c-section and shaved, wheeled to ops room
4:53pm - BB is out! Onwards - Endless stitching, layers by layers of stitching....
6:40pm - Finally wheeled out of Ops room!! Damn Traumatized!

39th Week - Check up, and to be induced at midnite!

Since last wed, cervix although showed sign of thining, has yet to open this week. Water level is already low and constant contractions and tightening will not be good for bb to stay any longer. Gynae advised me to be admitted this evening (12/9) and be induced at mid-nite. She will break water bag at about 6am on 13/9 and see if induction is success for natural birth. Otherwise, it will be emergency c-section . I am hoping induction works for me, and both bb and I will enjoy natural birth. Hope bb will be able to go thru this with me tonight....

Still no name for my baby...she is still known as "bb"

It's been past 30 over weeks, ... al--righ---t... to be fair, since finding out that "bb" is a gal.. till now, we have yet to decide on a name for miss "bb"! Gosh, are we really going to do the chinese calculation of bb's birth date, time, year with mine and hb ... and whatever.. to determine a name for miss "bb"??? I re--all---y hope not! I like the name Keira (sounds strong and determined) and I have been thinking of this name for the longest time! 2nd option, she's gonna be called Ashlee (so sweet), and if not... hmmm..... I.... well, I only like Keira and Ashlee!

So we're still pondering and disagreeing over miss "bb"'s name till now. Hb feels uneasy with Keira after I told him that Keira is an Irish name and has no real meaning other than that found in name's book saying it means "dark haired"... OMG.. ofcoz he doesn't want this name! Next, Ashlee... sweet... but he thinks that sounds so boyish! oh well... at this point, I am keeping quiet......

So much for the name... which I am really getting *&%$^ over... I am going to cool down a little and maybe share my little Miss "BB"'s baby room .... Enjoy!

Miss "bb" 's room (very empty.. only a used sofabed, and a ikea toy box that I fought so hard to buy :-( ) .. and there's also pumpkin cushion, ikea heartshaped huggie and chilli bolster - all mine!


and... not forgetting Miss "bb" 's playpen for Zzzz....

38th Week - Check up

Went for gynae check early in the morning.

Dr Chan commented bb's size is slightly smaller than average at this week, and bb's growth has been slow. Did a scan and results..:
- bb weight at 2.969g, bb grown only 400g since 34 weeks 4 days (about 3-4 wks ago)
- water level at 7 which is marginal. If at 6, gotta take bb out
- cervix is thining, but bb not engaged.

Dr Chan said bb will only engage when ready for labor. Said that from thining to dilation will be within 10 days.. so that means.. i will go into labor within 10 days lor?
Hmm.. seems all aspects of bb has somewhat grown.. but her head.. grown from only 0.63.

Here's baby in my tummy... doesn't my tummy look kinda ... big for my size?

I was thinking of publishing more pictures of my tummy in different angles, but decided not to after a fren of mine told me that my tummy shaped like a woman's breast... OMG!!!

37th Week - Oh...bb playing a joke on mummy?

I was having back-to-back meetings the whole morning, and by the time I look at my watch, it was almost 11:30pm. Just that moment, I realised ... bb has not moved the whole morning!!! . I put my hands on my tummy..nope..no movement. I tried to trigger by pressing my tummy...ok..one push back from bb..one push..that's it from her! This is so unlike her!!! Usually, she will move quite a bit and sticking her butt all over the place, but this time round, one press from me and all I get is one push back from her.. hmm.. something is not right.She has never not move for such long hours...
I called Dr Chan, she asked me down to do CTG. Oh.. CTG again! This is the 3rd time I am strapped on CTG in 2-3 wks. During CTG, bb moved initially, but the last 20 mins (CTG takes 1 hour) bb did not move at all. Dr Chan came in to check on me, saw the readings and immediately trigger bb by pressing my tummy all over. Luckily bb responded...
Jeez .. is bb tired or what.. why sleep so much????
